UC-Main’s student thespians and theatric enthusiasts, as well as some UC-Main administrators joined hands on December 16, 2006 to celebrate Christmas early.

The Theatre Workshop Company (TWC), Cheerdance, Instructional Media Services (IMS), Student Cultural Services and Link ID System offices made merry on a December Saturday?a few days before Christ’s nativity. Held at the Alicia Gotianuy building’s Audio Visual Room (AVR) on Kalubihan Street, the event kicked off with a cross-dressing beauty pageant: the males morphed into live dolls just as the girls showed off in the masculine counterpart. Sashaying in the swimsuit and evening wear, each of the 12 pair or 24 individual candidates embodied his and her corresponding group.

The contestants' entrance prompted the sound of the audience’s glee. During the pageant, group presentations came as ice breakers. Each group rendered an impromptu number, surprising everyone in the crowd. The Q and A portion gave a mind-boggling episode, stirring not just the contestants, but the audience as well. The judges shook each one’s mental faculty, not just of the candidates, as everyone scratched his head, thinking of how much that puppy in the window costs and other unconventional queries the judges came up with.

TWC’s Mario Carbon Jr. and TWC alumni Edel Anete played hosts. Albert Conejos and Kristine Marie Cole both unanimously earned the pageant’s title. Last year’s contestant ? Monito Lumongsud ? in the absence of last year’s winner, gave an over-the-top parting shot, while passing on to the night’s winner the crown and scepter.

The exchanging gifts followed. The evening’s affair was culminated with the singing challenge that had everyone cheering. Klint Macachur and Michelle Sasan emerged as the singing sensations of the night.
