For the first time, the three colleges of Hotel and Restaurant Management in three UC campuses had united in a grand event. They celebrated the HRM and Entrepreneurship Days last February 12 to 14, 2009.

In consonance with its theme, “Soaring High in Establishing a World-Class Mark through Culinary Tourism and Entrepreneurship”, the HRM Days aimed to align the colleges of HRM, market their program, and showcase the talents and skills of the students.

The three-day affair opened with a motorcade and parade, which started from UCLM and culminated in UC Main. Then, they had the opening program complete with the official ribbon cutting ceremony with guest of honor Mr. Marco Protacio, General Manager of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino doing the honor, assisted by Chancellor Candice Gotianuy and Atty. Baldomero Estenzo.

Immediately after, the“Chefs on Parade” followed. Among the guests gathered were representatives from the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

After the opening program, there was a series of contests, which was categorized into three, namely: HRM skills, academic and cultural. There was also a seminar on entrepreneurship with Mr. Rey Calooy as the guest speaker.

The Chancellor, Miss Candice Gotianuy said that she was very happy that the HRM Days was taking place because it would help in transforming the students into world-class HRM professionals.

Special guest Mr. Marco Protacio emphasized in his inspirational talk the value of hard work in order to achieve the quality performance of an HRM graduate.

The highlight of the HRM Days 2009 was the Culinary Tourism Exhibit. It showcased the tourist attractions and food specialties of all 17 regions in the Philippines .

On Valentine’ Day, the event culminated with the lavish coronation night of the Mr. and Ms. UC HRM at the Cebu Coliseum.

Mr. Grayfield Bajao, Dean of the College of HRM in UC Main, spearheaded the event with Mr. Rene Osorno, Dean of the College of HRM in UC Banilad, and Mr. Sulpicio Garces Jr., OIC-Chairperson of the College of HRM in UCLM.
