UC offers Mugna-Bansay Alang sa Kultura
The University of Cebu offerers an artistically refreshing course this summer under the expert supervision of acclaimed stage director and playwright Mr. Rudy U. Aviles and ably assisted by the bejeweled Theater Workshop Company (TWC), Cheerdance and the Symphonic Orchestra.
Slated to run from April until May 2007, “Mugna-bansay Alang sa Kultura” arts and culture workshop and festival will present a variety of clinics for children and adults who intend to hone their passion for the arts.
Anyone who seeks to be a thespian can sign up for the Theatre workshops which involve dance, drama and the visual arts. This includes the Basic Integrated Theatre Workshop for children ages five to 12 years old and the Basic Integrated Theatre Workshop which will be on hand for Teens and Adults. Both will run on weekdays from April 16 until May 4, 2007.
For any budding Quentin Tarantino, the Short length playwriting clinic, and the Advance Theatre Workshop (focus on Acting and Directing) for adolescents and adults will hold classes from April 23 to May 4 and May 11, 2007 respectively.
The university also has an offering for every dancing pro-active. Learning the rhythm of Basic Cheerleading and Dancing, Modern Dance/ Funky Streetbeat Dancing, Folkdance and Polynesian, Ballroom, Hawaiian, Tahitian Dances for t ose aged six and up will start from April 16 until May 4, 2007.
For the musically inclined, various coaching on instrumental playing with the violin, viola, cello, double base, flute/recorder, rondalla (banduria, laud, octavina), saxophone, trumpets and guitars (acoustic, electric base) will also be offered to all age groups. Tutorials on Piano and the electric keyboard as well as Voice lessons will also be at hand to uncover anyone’s golden voice. These will also be had from April 16 to May 25, 2007.
Towards the end of the summer, the TWC will render their production entitled “Duha-duha sa Ting-init” which will showcase a twinbill of Cebuano plays “Bisikleta” and “Rayna-rayna.”
The summer clinic enrollees will have the chance to display their learned craft through laboratory pieces in Theatre and Dance, as well as Music Recitals.
