Board Topnotchers - A Golden Harvest for University of Cebu
Upholding its tradition of keeping a track record of academic excellence, University of Cebu again garnered the top slot in the May 2004 Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Licensure Examinations for Civil Engineering with Engr. Alex C Mayor, Jr. as First Placer. Also in the September 2003 PRC Licensure Examinations for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, UC’s Engr. Dennis Niño Y Uy was First Placer while Engr. Alexander M Loquias was also a First Placer in the April 2003 PRC Licensure Examinations for Mechanical Engineering.
UC President Atty. Augusto W Go with Chancellor Candice Gotianuy commended Allied Engineering Dean, Engr. Ma. Nila Sabal and the faculty for a job well done and exhorted them to continuously prepare the students for employment not only locally but to make them globally competitive. The achievements, thus, served as a confirmation of UC’s having been granted in December 2003 the deregulated status out of 1,303 universities nationwide. This likewise made UC join a select group of 84 universities recognized by the Commission on Higher Education for outstanding over-all performance.
Another topnotcher from the Mechanical Engineering in the April 2004 PRC Board was Engr. Ervin E Dico – Eighth Placer. For the September 2003 Board for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, other Placers are the following: Engr. Michael N Mercado – Second Placer; Engr. Roberto F Villamor – Fourth Placer; Engr. Dionie D Carao – Fifth Placer.
UC Criminology under Dr. Artemio I. Panganiban, Jr., who is likewise the National President of the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines (PCAP), also had their share of the honor in producing topnotchers in the March 2004 Board Examination for Criminologists with the following: Richard P Laure – Seventh Placer; Romano C Morales – Ninth Placer; Bernie L Lao - 18th Placer.
Nursing and Midwifery Dean Dr. Helen Estrella had November 2003 Midwifery Topnotcher Ronald Ocubillo Quitco as Seventh Placer while June 2003 Nursing Topnotchers are: Renna Rachel Rivera-Go - 12th Placer; Cheryl C Divinagracia - 16th Placer; Anne Lorraine O Lee - 20th Placer.
Accountancy Dean Bartolome T Pozon reported of a higher passing percentage than the national while Education Dean, Dr. Agapito Pino, Jr. noted the department’s outstanding performance with March 2004 Cum Laude BS Education Graduate Mars O Mandal, who was an Awardee for the 2004 Ten Most Outstanding Students of Region 7; Awardee for the 2003 Ten Outstanding Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines; and Awardee for the 2003 National Ayala Young Leaders.
