Home of Winners: UC Students emerge winners in Academic, Cultural, Skills and Athletic Contests
College and High School students of the University of Cebu emerged winners in the Academic and Cultural Contests sponsored by the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Incorporated of CESAFI in various venues. And among CESAFI member schools, UC had the best record with 3 first places, 2 second places and 2 third places.

In the College Division, Zulikha Marie Conales of the College of Secondary Education was declared First Place Winner in Oration, Edwin Lutivio of the Maritime Education and Training Center was named First Place winner in Extemporaneous Speech and the UC Chorus was judged First in the Choral Contest. In Computer Quiz, the team of Joel L. Prieto and Jesslee S. Cuizon emerged Second while in Debate, the group of Claudio Nepangue, Sylvio Sabino, Rex Argate, Mary Ann Cadiz and Anthony Lopes tied with the USC team for Third Place.

In the High School Division, Virgilio Vallecera was named Second Place Winner in Oration and the team of Bobeth Herbese and Alvin Sabellano was announced Third Place Winner in the Math and Science Quiz Bowl.

In the Mandaue Sinulog Contest, the Paul Delgado mentored UC Bantawang Kabataan-Tribu Sugbuanon was declared the Best Contingent.

In the Canterplan Culinary Grand Prix 2003: Dream Team Challenge, the formidable Hotel and Restaurant Management Team of Glen Mark Dino, Lovella Jade Prejoles and Chinbi Uy grabbed the Visayas Regional Championship. They shall proceed to Metro Manila for the National Championship. In the 5th Sinulog Open Table Tennis Championship, UC ping-pong masters edged out the competition by taking the first, second and third places in the 17-years and Under Division and the first third places in the Men’s Open Division. In the 17-years and Under Division, Emmanuel Motel, Jr., emerged First Placer, Glendo Nayre Second Placer, and Jonas Jacalan Third Placer. In the Men’s Open, Emmanuel Motel, Jr., emerged the Champion and Glendo Nayre the Third Placer.

In the 2003 Petron Carlos J. Palanca, Jr. Memorial Games at the NInoy Aquino Stadium, Glen Lava bagged a bronzed medal in the bantamweight division to give Team 080 of Cebu its only medal. The Petron CPJ Games was organized by the Philippine Taekwondo Association in order to identify potential members to the national team.
