A team from the Deutsche Bank (DB) Manila, led by their General Manager Mr. Ceasar Parlade, visited the UC Main Campus to source possible employees from the university. Graduating Commerce and a few IT students met the visitors at the DVD Room. Prior to the hiring, an orientation was given by the bank’s representatives to familiarize the students with Deutsche Bank, a global investment bank with its main headquarters in Germany.

The bank was founded in Berlin in 1870 with the intention "to transact banking business of all kinds, in particular to promote and facilitate trade relations between Germany, other European countries and overseas markets."

A banking industry leader in Europe, Deutsche Bank is progressively expanding its network of banks in North America and Asia, specifically in key emerging markets. Presently, DB has 75,140 employees in 75 countries worldwide.

“Were looking for diversity, for people with different backgrounds,” informed Mr. Parlade.

After the screening, seven lucky UC students were booked to start their training in January, 2008 at the Manila office of Deutsche Bank. These Commerce and Accountancy students are Jaqueline Galapin, Micyvil Lumayag, Jake Mansañares, Jenine Ybañez, Razel Miñez, Xcel Batomalaque and Jennifer Estenor.

The visit was made possible with the assistance of the Job Placement and Public Employment Service Office of UC, which is accredited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Dept. of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP).
