UC athletes have reaped the most medals, once again asserting their supremacy during the 17th Cebu City Olympics on November 17, 18, 24 and 25.

The Athletics division came out the most triumphant, with 18 gold, 15 silver and 7 bronze medals. The team was composed of Mark Vincent Belarmino, Jerry Ruiz, Michael James Lao, Cyrain Piliotas, Junjie Tago, Christopher Valles, Jesel Alfeche, Jericho Pustrano, Limvel Mandal, Jason Dumarau, Jhon Rey Sarviola, Armando Manubag, Albert Marayag, Ferrene Pepito, Sarah Kay Olavides, Trixie Cijar, Bernadeth Caballes, Christine Sienes, Donavie Gala and Christine Pilapil. They were coached by Mr. Jeppy Lumungsod.

UC’s freshmen Commerce coed Princess Laurence Inocando and Criminology cadet Raymar Ruiz grabbed the gold for the Dancesport competition. They were coached by Mr. Victor Cuenco

The Swimming team logged impressive wins with 13 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals. The swimming team included Jack Daniel Ombid, Felix Cristobal Vega, Aimee Sanchez, Josephus Rusiana, John Michael Galo and Jason Canoy. They were coached by Mr. Alex Hangad.

The Karate-do team coached by Mr. Perices Gutierrez managed to pull 2 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals. James Dawa earned two silver medals; Rino Ricablanca a gold medal; Edward Daganon a bronze medal and a silver; Art John Rosaroso two bronze medals and a gold medal; Jan Vincent Dela Peña a silver medal; and Donna Jean Lada two silver medals.

A gold medal each was harvested in the Women’s Chess, and Volleyball events. The Men’s Chess category also collected a silver medal.

The Chess Men and Women’s teams consisted of Cevedolyn Abellla, Adelaine Algopera, Doris Balaod, Rayshel Bulanon, Ramelyn Evaristo, Kristine Mayol, Al-Michael Arasain, Fritz Arcenas, Darwin Dabasol, Gerald Nadera, Adrian Val Paraiso, Ric John Villegas and Edgar Yungco. They were coached by Mr. Ceciro Estoconing.

The winning Volleyball Men’s included Alfie Mosqueda, Aldin Potot, Marc Vincent Cabigue, Relgin Paring, Ian John Sagmon, Jemson Apatan, Kris Cañedo, Ralph Joromat, Cromwil Romo, Francis Obejas, Harley Carriaga and Lloyd Cabaloa. They were coached by Mr. Alex Opolintesima.

The gold medal was “a group effort” of Danilo Claiejo, Ralph Jason Recales, Abbegail Ayco and Jame Ryan Fuentes of the Table Tennis category, according to their Tournament Manager Ms. Jessica Honoridez.

UC’s scrabble team under the coaching of Mr. Godofredo Tesorio was composed of Jay Anthony Cavales, Renan Tumulak, Marlon Coniconde, Mark Arfie Lao, Ramil Dimaisip, and Nizley Jill Alferez. They also collected a gold medal.

Badminton’s Danyl Angeles and John Ray Cgande scored a silver medal each.

The Basketball team included Noel Cañedo, Joebel Gabato, Filjohn Garrido, Ian Dexter Go, John FEbrail Abellana, Peter Cutaran, Frenglo Buenamente, Glenn Urbina, Mark Gil Echavez, Eduardo Marinay, Gerald Ompad, Oscar Baltazar, Reno Berido and Lad ALferez under the coaching of Mr. Edgar Alinsoot scored a silver.
The consolidated results tallied 80 medals for the UC team, a superlative performance earning the school with the title “Champion” several years in a row now.
