College of Law - Faculty
University of Cebu's College of Law opened its gates to budding law students in June, 2002. The achievement of the newest school in the legal community is unparalleled. Class 2006, the pioneer batch, produced a Ninth placer in the 2006 Bar Examination. In addition, UC ranked No. 5 among the 125 Law schools all over the country, with 80% Bar Passing Average. Values of excellence, integrity and service are ingrained among the faculty and the students.
The administration and members of the Law Faculty are outstanding members of the Bar and the Bench, representing the three key stakeholders in governance government, business and civil society.
Faculty Profiles
Dean Baldomero C. Estenzo
Dean Estenzo assumed the office in April, 2007. He is both a lawyer and a certified public accountant. He graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Law. He has vast management and litigation experience in the corporate sector. He is the Corporate Secretary of the University of Cebu and the Vice-Chancellor for External Affairs of the University of Cebu-Banilad. Commercial Law is his teaching area. He was the Assistant Dean of the College of Law since June, 2002
Paulino A. Yabao
Assistant Dean Yabao is one of the pioneer faculty members of the UC College of Law and chaired its bar operations for the 2006 Bar Examinations. He is a Catholic lawyer and educator, and a legal practitioner trained under the tutelage of the late Chief Justice Marcelo B. Fernan as law student in the USJR College of Law, law professor, and law associate in the MB Fernan & Associates Law Firm. Asst. Dean Yabao is a senior executive of the University of Cebu, handling personnel, legal and administrative matters for the past 15 years.
Josh Carol T. Ventura
UC Law Faculty President Ventura is the Chief of the Trade and Industry Regulation Division of the Department of Trade and Industry. She has substantial experience in the field of business regulation and trade and industry laws implementation including adjudication of trade law cases. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of San Carlos. Her teaching areas include Commercial and Administrative Laws.

Jess Anthony N. Garcia
A member of a political clan in Cebu, who has gone up the ladder of success. No doubt he follows the footsteps of his forefathers.
Atty. Jess, as he is often called by his colleagues, finished his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Ateneo de Manila University. After graduation in 1992, he enrolled at the Ateneo Law School to exercise his mind through Socratic method. He achieved his Juris Doctor in 1997. The year 1998 was a memorable event of his life as his name was added to the numerous Garcias in the roll of attorneys. He was admitted to the bar just 26 days before his 26th birthday.
As an international lawyer, he engages in private practice working for the JP Garcia and Associates here and abroad.
